Southern Baptists Get Serious About Disney Boycott

Amidst speculation over whether Southern Baptists were really prepared to give up Mickey Mouse and his friends, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is reinforcing its resolution that its members should boycott Disney and its affiliates. Baptist Press reports that the denomination's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission planned in August to mail "commitment cards" through which Southern Baptists could record how much money they are not spending on Disney products and services. The mailing would also include a listing of the reasons why the SBC voted in favor of the boycott last June.

In the meantime, Disney executives indicated that they were willing to talk with SBC members about their concerns.
