TRUE TALES

An Erotic E-zine of Masculinity and Power

About Us

True Tales: An Erotic E-zine of Masculinity and Power debuted in April 2005 as an online magazine devoted to publishing narrative works about various aspects of power dynamics between gay men. By the end of its first year, it had published works by award-winning authors Felice Picano, John Preston, and Jack Fritscher, as well as the works of Mark I. Chester and A. J. Epstein, especially noted for their photography in the 1970s.

True Tales received special attention in the fall of 2005 when it provided comprehensive news coverage of the effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita on the leather, bear, and BDSM communities in the Gulf Coast. Later that year, True Tales editor Dusk Peterson was nominated for a regional Pantheon of Leather award, the highest set of community service awards in the leather world.

Toward the end of 2006, as True Tales prepared to begin its Military Men theme year, four works that had been published in True Tales were named as finalists for the Rauxa Prize for Erotic Writing. Two of them went on to become runners-up for the prize in the poetry and fiction categories.
