CONTENTS INFORMATION
Unless otherwise noted, items in the tables of contents are nonfiction. The information below is based on the tables of contents indexed here and may or may not reflect the full run of the magazine.
Drummer Magazine primarily published erotic and non-erotic nonfiction, erotic fiction, erotic and non-erotic photography, erotic art (primarily drawings), and erotic cartoons and comics. It also published interviews, erotic illustrated calendars, erotic drama/scripts, and erotic and non-erotic poetry.
The following types of nonfiction were published in Drummer: lifestyle articles, letters, classifieds, reviews (of books, films, records, magazines, and leather-related businesses and organizations), true-life accounts, editorials, news, interviews, advice columns, humor, and tours.
Cumulative indexes for fiction and for fetish articles were published in issue #85 (1985).
Drummer aimed to be a monthly magazine but usually fell short of that goal. It was published on 8-1/2 x 11-inch paper. The cover was color on glossy paper. The inside was black-and-white on glossy or plain paper. The fiction and classifieds were sometimes printed on heavier, colored paper. Advertisements were printed in the magazine, usually for small gay or leather companies. Image files of a few Drummer pages can be found at the Leather Archives & Museum Website (www.leatherarchives.org), in Current Exhibits: Tony DeBlase: View the Exhibit: Drummer Magazine.
SYMBOLS FOR ISSUES #20-56
The indexing system for this magazine is different in other issues.
(Text between parentheses) - Original description of contents.
[Text between square brackets] - Additional information obtained from within the issue.
{Text between curly brackets} - Additional information obtained from outside the issue. In cases where a contributor's name ends in a question mark, the identity of the item's contributor is not known for certain, but internal evidence suggests the identification (such as similarity in style and content to other pieces published by this contributor).
