Turn-of-Century Toughs Bibliographies: Printed and Online Resources

These biliographies list the books, articles, Websites, museums, and locations I consulted or visited while researching Turn-of-the-Century Toughs, a cycle of alternate history series about disreputable men on the margins of society, and the men and women who care for them. Set in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the novels and stories take place in an alternative version of America that was settled by inhabitants of the Old World in ancient times. As a result, the New World retains certain classical and medieval customs.

The Boer War and Turn-of-the-Century Firearms.

Islanders and Watermen of the Chesapeake Bay.

Masculinity, Crime, and Everyday Life in Victorian and Edwardian Times.

Retrofuture: Visions of the Future, 1945-1975. Includes Media Representations of Everyday Life and of Battles Against the Mainstream, 1962-1965.
